Libby Mornement @Bloemen & Blue
Libby @Bloemen & Blue is a Cyanotype Artist using the alchemy of non-toxic Iron solutions reacting with sunshine to produce photographic Blueprints. Invented in Bath over 180 years ago Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic processes sometimes known as ‘sun printing’. A complex reaction of Potassium Ferricyanide & Ferric Ammonium Citrate when exposed to UV light produces an insoluble blue dye otherwise known as ‘Prussian blue’, however where the light is blocked remains white and, after oxidisation in water, an ethereal photographic blueprint is revealed.
Aptly named The Lido for its immediately apparent swimming pool vibe Libby's art space combines her 'working studio' complete with the essential UV lamps and the dark required for the Cyanotype process. In here there is work in progress to view that provides the visitor with a greater understanding of this ancient photographic technique. Alongside is a light and airy space where Libby runs her cyanotype workshops and exhibits her framed originals shaped by a childhood by the sea and a passion for swimming. There will also be a range of Bargain 'Studio Seconds' available as well as Cyanotype DIY Kits, Handprinted Bags, and a range of Cards.
Always happy to share cyanotype insights with creative's, collectors and the curious alike come along and have a go yourself. Create a simple cyanotype of your own to take away. Running throughout open weekends. Free and no booking required.
The exhibition/workshop space is fully accessible (with prior notice) and there is driveway parking for 4-5 cars (plus roadside parking15 m away). Please Note CLOSED Sunday 14th July.
