The studio is a teaching centre for those wishing to explore the craft and art of ceramics, whether it is learning to throw on the wheel or hand building and sculpting in clay. Regular and one off sessions are available for those of all abilities and ages. Arts Award qualification is also offered to young people up to the age of 25.
My work draws inspiration from the environment and centres around the observations of deterioration, construction and deconstruction and mending I use a number of different clays and building techniques. Coloured porcelain slips are used, oxides and some glazes are used for surface decoration. Other materials are mixed with the clay, including fabrics, metals and threads, a number of firing techniques are used to produce desired surface textures and colours. There will be opportunity for visitors to have try some mini projects during the studio open days.
