Alexander Kai
Alexander’s artwork focuses primarily on the human form and aims to explore the complexity of the human condition. He strives to explore different characters and personalities within the figures he paints and to show emotional qualities underrepresented in society. His passion is for finding beauty in its many forms and capturing it so that it may resonate further through his work, inviting people to take a moment to see deeper than the surface.
Alexander enjoys experimenting with different mediums and techniques in order to reflect the energy and soul of his subjects. His most commonly used materials include oil paints, charcoal and pastels. He also works in clay and has taken up sculpting alongside his painting and drawing practice.
Having always held a strong interest in the works of the old master's, Alexander has recently begun training in classical portraiture. He will be continuing this training in Florence, the birthplace of the renaissance, to gain insight into the traditional methods of oil painting and portraiture, which have been passed down over generations.
Although he is not able to exhibit this year as part of open studios, make sure to keep an eye out on his website and sign up to his newsletter to be notified of future exhibitions.
