Normandy's method, much like his lifestyle, does not conform to societal rules, but to those of his own making. His expression, though free and flowing, is in a personal code that preserves the core inspiration of each work. Though each piece is a free expression of Normandy's honesty with himself, the code teases the audience as to the message. Many discover their own code in one or more works. Oxidised colours and form displays mixed elements of a life beset by personal torment and triumph. The canvas has become the confessional, freeing the conscience, yet guarding the secret, be it pain or pleasure.
